Earth Month is here, and Endicott College will celebrate Earth Day with a campus-wide rally on Wednesday, April 22.
This year’s event, which brings together students, faculty, and staff for a day of environmental action, reflection, and community, will feature a keynote address from Andrew Ference, a 16-year National Hockey League (NHL) veteran who spent seven years with the Boston Bruins. Now a leading voice in sustainability across professional sports, Ference won the Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011.

The College’s Earth Day Rally will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning at the Callahan Center and culminating at the College’s outdoor amphitheater.
The event will include a student-led rally march, remarks from campus leaders, and Ference, whose work continues to shape environmental initiatives across the NHL.
During his NHL career, Ference launched the Carbon Neutral Challenge to offset team travel emissions, collaborated with National Geographic, and partnered with city governments on waste management solutions. Today, he leads NHL Green, the League’s sustainability platform, driving environmental responsibility across its clubs and operations.
“Earth Day at Endicott is more than a moment—it's an invitation to explore the unique role that each of us as students, faculty, and staff can play in addressing the challenges we currently face as a planet,” said Anne Sargent, Director of Sustainability. “Welcoming Andrew Ference to campus brings a powerful, real-world perspective on how leadership and innovation can drive meaningful environmental change. His work shows our students that sustainability can—and should—be embedded in every industry.”
The event will begin with students gathering in Lower Callahan around 11:15 a.m. to create and collect Earth Day posters before marching across campus to the amphitheater.
