As one of the first schools in the country to require three internships for every student, Endicott’s pioneering internship program transforms a rigorous liberal arts education into meaningful, real-world experience. Our comprehensive program equips students with the opportunities, hands-on experiences, and career support they need to build confidence and gain a competitive edge in their careers. We call this the Endicott Experiential Edge. Students are prepared to be leaders and professionals who can pivot successfully to new opportunities throughout their lives.
Prepared and Ready for the World
At Endicott, we believe in preparing our students for successful careers and successful lives. Our multidimensional approach to higher education integrates classroom-based theory with practical, real-world application. This is accomplished through our robust internship program (which includes internships, clinicals, and student teaching, depending on the major) and by providing opportunities for personal growth through introspection, reflection, leadership, and community involvement. Our goal is for our students to build confidence through these experiences and leave prepared and ready for the world.
Outstanding Support & Guidance
Depending on a student’s major, they may complete internships, clinicals or student teaching. Endicott’s internship program is staffed by dedicated internship faculty who are based in their respective academic schools. They help students determine a career path that suits them and acquire essential job search skills through required courses, group meetings, individual advising sessions, reflection, workshops, and academic coursework. Students also receive support from our Internship & Career Center, which helps them prepare for their professional journey. We do not place students in internships; students seek out and apply for internships themselves, which provides excellent training for when they are seeking employment in the real world.
Our students graduate with a degree, a resume, and a bold vision for the future. In fact, 99% of our graduates (2015-2024 average) report being employed or attending graduate school within one year of graduation. And, all alumni receive lifelong career services and guidance, and will be supported wherever their professional lives take them—once a Gull, always a Gull!

Year One
Pre-internship Sessions
In the first year—and for a majority of students/schools, in the first semester—you will take part in pre-internship sessions, which are designed to help explore your areas of interest and establish a foundation for your future career. You will receive guidance on selecting and securing internships related to your major studies, with specific assignments designed to help you prepare professional resumes, write cover letters and LinkedIn profiles, and participate in networking events.
First Short-Term Internship
You will complete your first short-term internship during your first year, usually during the summer but some might be completed during the winter. These internships are a minimum of 120 hours, and you will earn two credits. Reflection on your experience is built into the program and is a critical part of the process. Having the opportunity to learn and reflect on whether you like a chosen profession as early as your first year is a unique benefit of Endicott’s program.
-
Year Two
Second Short-Term Internship
In your second year, the online seminar classes will help you refine your focus for a second internship.
During the winter or summer, you’ll complete the second short-term internship, lasting about three weeks or a minimum of 120 hours. You will earn another two credits for this internship.
Following both the first and second internships, you will have opportunities for reflection, analysis, and discussion of your internship experiences with your Academic Advisor and Internship Faculty Advisor. Your Academic Advisor grades the required reflective essay for both short-term internships.
-
Years Three and Four
Third Full-Semester Internship
This final internship offers you a deeper opportunity to apply the academic and experiential knowledge you’ve gained through your studies in a real-world setting.
During your junior year, you will continue career preparation in a class (or as part of portfolio classes for Visual & Performing Arts majors) geared toward helping you make strategic choices for your semester-long senior internship and your future career. You will receive instruction and be prepared to succeed in an upcoming semester-long internship, which you may complete in the spring of your junior year or in either the fall or spring of your senior year. While most students complete this internship during the fall semester, some choose to complete it in the spring semester, including those in majors like accounting and student-athletes who play fall sports.
This internship lasts 14 weeks for 28-32 hours per week, and can be adjusted for students participating in co-ops, where they typically work for a longer period of time. Students earn 12 credits for this internship, and are also required to attend class one day per week for 14 weeks.
During your senior year, you are encouraged to enroll in our Senior Transitions class, which prepares you to be a well-rounded professional and will set you up for success post-graduation.
