  • Signage & Environmental Graphics Guide

Environmental graphics and large-format signage are fantastic tools for bringing the Endicott brand to life and adding energy to your spaces and events. To ensure we present a cohesive, high-quality brand experience to our external audience—including prospective students, families, alumni, donors, and the North Shore community—all public-facing signage must be coordinated through the Facilities Management and Communications & Marketing teams. As our shared public spaces must accommodate the needs of many stakeholders, some requests may not be approved if they conflict with broader campus directives.

Because these projects often require close collaboration between our departments, we want to make the process as seamless as possible. The following guide will help you understand your specific signage needs so you can feel confident reaching out to the right partner to initiate your request.

    Understanding the Difference

Large Format Signage (Timebound) Large format signage refers to oversized printed graphics, such as banners, billboards, posters, and wall decals, that are designed to capture immediate attention. Because this type of signage is timebound rather than permanent, it is the ideal solution for events and short-term advertising where you need high-impact visuals to communicate your message effectively in public spaces.

Environmental Graphics (Permanent) Environmental graphics refer to visual elements integrated directly into the physical environment to enhance the energy and experience of a space. Designed as permanent installations rather than temporary displays, they transform the atmosphere for the long term, creating an immersive environment that defines the unique character of your location.

    Signage & Graphics Request Process

    Phase 1: Initiation & Request

    1. Define Your Need Before starting, help us understand the scope of your project by identifying:
      • The Item: What do you desire? (e.g., wall decal, wayfinding sign, banner)
      • Event Date and/or Deadline: (Timelines vary by project; early planning ensures on-time delivery and installation.)
      • Location: Will this signage primarily be viewed by an internal audience or external audience?
      • Size Requirements: Do you have a specific size (or sizes) in mind?
      • Budget Code: Which department(s) will be responsible for the expense?
      • Lifespan: Is this Timebound (temporary event/promo) or Permanent (long-term installation)?
      • The Goal: What is the desired impact? (Advertising, navigation, or aesthetics).
    2. Submit Your Request When you have your details ready, please submit them using the Communications & Marketing Request Form. CCM will review your request, and the appropriate team will contact you to start the project.

    Phase 2: Budget & Design

    1. Quote Sourcing The managing department (Marketing or Facilities) will reach out to Endicott preferred vendors to source accurate quotes for your project.
    2. Budget Approval After the quotes are gathered, the managing department will share the costs with you for your review and approval. The budget MUST be approved before design work begins.
    3. Provide Content To start the creative process, please provide your ideas for the look and feel (creative direction), any specific images you want to use, and the finished words or text (final copy) for the design.
    4. Design Development To ensure the result aligns with your vision, the managing department will develop design concepts and share them with you for your feedback and final approval.

    Phase 3: Execution

    1. Production Once the design is approved, your signage and graphics will move into production. Please note that production times vary based on the complexity of the project.
    2. Delivery & Installation
      • Large Format Signage: CCM will identify and communicate if product(s) will be delivered to you directly or if installation coordination is required of CCM.
      • Environmental Graphics: The Facilities team will coordinate the professional installation of your new graphics.

To ensure every sign on campus is high-quality and perfectly on-brand, Communications & Marketing and Facilities Management manage vendor relationships directly. Our print partners are trained to work through our approved workflows. Simply bring your request to us, and we will determine the best production path to bring your vision to life!
