Profile

Dr. Anthony D’Onofrio has over three decades of experience in managing events, operations, marketing, and sales, as well as in education within both amateur and professional sports organizations. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor and the Director of Graduate Sport Leadership at Endicott College in Beverly, MA. In this role, he oversees a team of graduate school staff responsible for recruiting, academic advising, program assessment, and career counseling for more than 150 graduate students, all in a fully online, asynchronous course delivery format.

At Endicott College, Dr. D’Onofrio teaches a variety of courses, including Facilities Planning in Sport, Sport Marketing, Event Planning and Programming, Sport Entrepreneurship, History and Philosophy of Recreation and Leisure, Preparing for a Career in Sports, and Comprehensive Seminar in Athletic Administration. Internationally, he has taught Sports Marketingin Leysin, Switzerland, and has led experiential tours in Cork, Ireland, and Florence, Italy.

A frequent speaker, Dr. D’Onofrio has presented at numerous prestigious events, including the Professional Hockey Players Association (PHPA) Annual Meetings in Orlando, Florida, on life after professional hockey, and at the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) events at the University of Houston, University of Tampa, and Troy University in Alabama. He has also delivered presentations at institutions such as Endicott College, Salem State University, Dean College, Rivier College, Louisiana State University, and the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, AL. In addition, Dr. D’Onofrio has spoken at high schools such as Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH, Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton, ME, and most recently, Permian High School in Odessa, TX, on topics including Athletic Identity, Mental Health, and the Dangers of Fentanyl.

Dr. D’Onofrio’s dissertation focused on the Sport-Career Transformation Experiences that affect the career transitions of professional ice hockey players. His expertise provides a comprehensive and practical understanding of both domestic and international sports industries, coupled with a strong business acumen. Additionally, Dr. D’Onofrio has extensive experience in sports sales and previously owned the Crawfish Relay Race, which spanned from New Orleans to Pensacola, FL.

A native of Everett, MA, and born in Boston, Dr. D’Onofrio graduated from Salem State College. He holds a Master’s Degree from the United States Sports Academy and a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Higher Education Leadership from Endicott College. In addition to his academic and professional accomplishments, Dr. D’Onofrio serves as a Board Member for Operation Veteran Now, a Board Member for Hoop Dreams Africa, and an Ambassador for Warriors Unmasked.
